Off the Grid

This is the piece that I began in Sherrill Kahn's class. We painted and stamped on fabric. Then I cut the pieces up and sewed them to a placemat! It saved time when it came to quilting and binding. I embellished with yarns, beads and buttons.

I have a collection of antique buttons which I rarely use so it was nice to find a place for them. I loved the process of making a stamp from a styrofoam plate and printing on fabric. I especially like the effect on black fabric. Sherrill has a wealth of information and I highly recommend taking a class from her.
