Just a taste

This is Shayna's quilt for Mila.
The Rogue Art Quilters are hanging a new show at the Key of C tomorrow. This is just a taste of the quilt that I am hanging. I will post all of them next week. I embroidered black felt using rayon thread - love the sheen, hate the way it twists!

I have also been making fabric earrings and helping Shayna finish a quilt for a friends new baby.

She appliqued the squares and designed the whole quilt by herself. She may have caught the quilting bug!

sparkle added!

I wanted to do a sample with a new glue that we carry at Quiltz. It comes out white but when it has dried clear, it is ready to use. I dipped the tip of my finger into glitter and it stuck to the glue immediately. I used foil in the same way.
Hopefully the picture will enlarge so you can see the details better. It really added sparkle to the piece.

Paper clay?

I have been playing with a soft clay that I bought in the kids section at Joannes. It is easy to work with and feels like soft paper. I smoothed it onto a piece of felt and pressed a foam stamp into it. When it dried, I painted the clay with lumiere paint and when that dried, I rubbed Pearlex powder on top to give it some sparkle. First I sewed the felt to the background piece and then I sewed the yarn around the clay to cover up the felt.
I want to play with this technique some more.

batik circles

I am still playing with that curved template and loving it. ....and of course, I can never resist batiks. This one went together quickly.
